Slow down Saturday

After a hectic week/month, I need slow down days like today.  We wandered around a bunch of nurseries in horse country, looking for plants for our yard.  As we wandered up and down leafy aisles, feeling the breeze and occasional bursts of soft rain, I felt myself starting to unwind.  There’s something about being outside on overcast, rainy days that brings out a drowsy, dreamy feeling — it’s cathartic.

And now we are the owners of a new basil plant, lemon tree and cocoplum hedges.  I call today a success, especially since we got everything from local growers and not any big box stores.

Friday Swing

It’s Friday. It’s been a crazy week and next week probably will be too.

So I’m unwinding to my current favorite Pandora station – Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grapelli.  For those of you who don’t know – it’s old school gypsy jazz and it’s fantastic. Happy and upbeat, gypsy jazz makes me feel like I am back in Europe, sitting in a small trattoria enjoying wine and friends.
